Kingfisher. Chalk Pastel on Board, 2020

In early 2020, before the pandemic hit, I was commissioned to paint three watercolours, two of which were birds - a strawberry finch and the purple parrot, below:

This inspired me to produce a series of British birds. I decided to create them using chalk pastels rather than watercolour, which I had not really used since my early twenties, when I worked in advertising.
